Marvin “Skip” Anderson, 87, of Columbus, passed from this life at 12:23 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Millers Merry Manor in Hope.

Mr. Anderson retired from Stadler Packing Company after 27 years of service.

He was a graduate of Jackson School in Decatur County.

An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Anderson enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and camping.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Marcus D. Speer officiating. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. to time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born in Bartholomew County, Feb. 17, 1929, to Floyd B. and Irene Thompson Anderson.

He married, Doraethel Taylor Sept. 17, 1948.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Doraethel Anderson; children, Dallas (Sherry) Anderson of Westport, Marvin Dale (Roberta) Anderson of Nashville and Linda Gale (James) Anderson-Hill of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Clinton (Amy) Anderson, Carrie (Bo) Hood, Jennifer Lyn Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Lindsay Doolittle and Cody Hill; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean Grimm and a son, Dennis Anderson.
