DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — A suburban Philadelphia man accused of trying to kill his wife by beating her and leaving her inside a home after setting fire to it has been convicted of attempted murder.
The (Doylestown) Intelligencer (http://bit.ly/2ej9mVJ ) reports that Bucks County Judge C. Theodore Fritsch Jr. also convicted 50-year-old Joseph Todd on Tuesday of aggravated assault, arson, and more than a dozen counts of reckless endangerment.
Authorities alleged in March that the Buckingham man beat his wife until she was unconscious and then tampered with natural gas to try to blow up the home.
Todd’s attorney argued that his client knew his wife had left and was trying to kill himself. Prosecutors cited prior threats. The judge said his words and actions demonstrated a “fully formed and specific intent” to kill.
