Jenny’s Picks – October 20

1) As the weather drops, my thoughts turn to food, hence my interest in A Taste of Columbus, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27, The Commons. Tickets: $30 in advance, $35 at the door. About 35 local vendors, including franchises, independent startups and restaurants from around Columbus, will offer food and alcoholic beverages, making the event open only to people 21 and older. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit columbusareachamber.com.

2) I do find glass art charming, but could I make such works myself? I can find out at the Glass Forming Workshops, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29, in front of The Commons, sponsored by Columbus Area Arts Council. Participants will make glass pumpkin paperweights with assistance from skilled glass artists. Ten workshops are limited to five people per session. Cost is $30 per person, with a limit of two per order, and pre-payment is required. Reservations may be made with a credit card at 812-376-2539 or at the Arts Council office in The Commons, 300 Washington St.
