Betty L. Fowler, 89, of Columbus, passed away at 6:29 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation.

Betty was born in North Vernon Oct. 11, 1927, to Albert Tripp Rayburn Sr. and Genevieve Terry Rayburn. She married Ernest Fowler Jan. 12, 1946.

Betty was a homemaker and worked on the family farm with her husband and took care of him faithfully before he passed away. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church and loved planting flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Dr. William Bailey officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkside Baptist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Survivors include her son, Gerald (Linda) Fowler of Hope; a daughter, Beverly (David Keith) Gilbert of Columbus; grandchildren, Annette (Dave) Peach, Karen Mast, Sherri (Kyle Howe) Fowler, Bill Fowler and Bob Fowler; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hoover, Jessica (Matt Keegan) Hoover and Matthew Peach; a great-great-grandchild, Addison Keegan; and sister-in-law, Virginia Rayburn Coffey.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Tripp Rayburn Sr. and Genevieve Terry Nickerson; her husband, Ernest Fowler, who passed away on June 11, 1987; and a brother, Albert Rayburn Jr.
