Columbus teen arrested after found passed out with handgun

Columbus police arrested a local teenager after officers found him passed out with a handgun on his lap.

Skye N. Bailey, 19, 3561 S. Gladstone Ave., was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and carrying a handgun without a permit at about 1:50 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers Ben Quesenbery and Eric Kapczynski were sent to a shopping center parking lot in the 2000 block of Merchant’s Mile about suspicious men in a parked vehicle, Harris said. Officers removed the handgun from Bailey and arrested him after waking him up.

A second person in the vehicle was taken into custody but later released, Harris said. Officers found a small amount of methamphetamine and Xanax in the vehicle, Harris said.

Bailey was released from the Bartholomew County Jail with a $67,500 bond, jail officials said.
