First lady Laura Bush, in Columbus to campaign for U.S. Rep. Mike Sodrel, paid a visit to Hackman’s Farm Market, where she talked to employees, customers and the press, then chose a pumpkin to take back to her husband.

Columbus North High School’s football team lost to Terre Haute North, 37-27, and Columbus East lost to Bloomington South, 35-13, in first-round sectional play.

Chicago architect Harry Weese, designer of Lincoln Center and the adjoining ice rink, met with members of Columbus Park Board to discuss a cover to shield the rink from sun, wind and other weather, but still be compatible with the general appearance of the rink, building and grounds.
