Mary Jane Wible Olson, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Tempe, AZ, on November 1, 2016. She was born in Sullivan, IN, September 19, 1933, to William Medford Wible Sr. and Grace Burkhart Wible, who preceded her in death.
Mary Jane and her husband, Dan, moved to Columbus in August 1960 to start Dan’s dental practice and raise a family. While living in Columbus, Mary Jane was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority. Along with her husband, Dan, she was known for her gift as hostess to area dentists and spouses.
Mary Jane moved to Tempe, Arizona, in 1981 and worked at Arizona State University in the library and the Student Health Center from 1983 to 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; children, Deborah Burnett (John) of Columbus, Beth Barth (Frank) of San Antonio, TX, and Eric Olson (Alicia) of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren Anne O’Neill (Nathan) of Bloomington, Katharine Burnett (fiancé Eric) of Indianapolis, Brandon Barth (Elizabeth) of Roanoke, TX, Colin Barth (Amy) of Sumter, SC, and John Ockajik and Dirk Olson of Gilbert, AZ; and two great-granddaughters, Alyssa Barth of Texas and Sydney Barth of South Carolina; siblings LeAnn Smith and Lynette Inbody (Gary) of Sullivan, RaNell Miller of Martinsville, and Richard Wible (Becky) of Terre Haute. Her brother, William Medford Wible Jr. preceded her in death. She leaves behind many members of her large, extended family.
Services will be held in Sullivan, IN, on Friday, November 25. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Healthwell Foundation (healthwellfoundation.org) or Hospice of the Valley of Phoenix, AZ.
