In salute of service: Veterans Day

Nov. 11 was Veterans Day, a day to honor the military service of men and women who have protected the United States. Ceremonies in Columbus at the Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans and near Edinburgh at Camp Atterbury, as well as other places, paid tribute to local veterans for their duty and sacrifices. About 250 residents attended the Columbus ceremony, where the names of 191 former service men and women who died in the past year were read. At Camp Atterbury, Vice President-elect Mike Pence, a Columbus native and Indiana governor, addressed a crowd of 200 and thanked military members past and present for what they have done for and given to the country. Here’s another look at the ceremonies.
