Museum hosting open house

The Hayden Historical Museum, 6715 W. County Road 20S in Jennings County, will host a Christmas open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4.

The museum, old gas station and A Place Called Yesterday building will be decorated for the Christmas season.

Lester Tracy will play Christmas music on some of the antique musical instruments for everyone to enjoy in A Place Called Yesterday. A special holiday treat will be waiting for those who stop in to see the 1947 Sinclair gas station. The 1965 living room exhibit inside the museum will be decorated for Christmas, and will include an aluminum tree. Classic Christmas cartoons will be playing on the black-and-white television.

The event is free but visitors are encouraged to make a donation. Proceeds will go to the restoration and preservation of the home place of Hayden native and the late Indiana Gov. Edgar Whitcomb. Home-made soups and snacks will be served in the museum meeting room in exchange for a free-will donation.
