Walter Joe Cobb, 63, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016, in Columbus. He was born on February 15, 1953, the son of Ben E. Cobb and Lillie M. (Masner) Swift.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20years. Walter worked line production at Cummins and worked previously for the Johnson County Jail. He enjoyed cheering on the Colts, the Pacers, and IU basketball teams. He also loved watching war documentaries on the History Channel.

Walter is survived by his wife, Amanda (Crum) Cobb; his four children, Michael Cobb of Indianapolis, Joseph (Amber) Cobb of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Melissa (Brian) Smith of Nashville and Deonna Johns of Columbus; two sisters, Jan (Mike) Barger of Franklin and Judy Isley of Columbus; his first wife, Debbie Fitzpatrick; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Barry K. Swift.

Chaplain Don Sanders will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31, Whiteland. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Youngs Creek Cemetery, Franklin.
