Ruth L. Beesley, 99, of Columbus, formerly of Decatur County until 1984, died November 27, 2016, at Four Seasons Retirement Center.

Mrs. Beesley was born in Decatur County on June 12, 1917, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Funke) Ortman.

On February 27th, 1940, she married Lewis Beesley. He died December 1, 1976.

She was a member of St. Columba Church, which later consolidated with St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

She attended Immaculate Conception School, Millhousen.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Ortman, Frank Ortman and Ralph Ortman; and three sisters, Louise Hill, Bertha Small and Leona Brewer.

Survivors include her loving son, Kenneth R. (Lorraine) Beesley of Orchard Lake, Michigan; grandson, James Lewis (Kristen) Beesley of West Bloomfield, Michigan; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Beesley of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Community with Fr. Clem Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Millhousen. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Additional calling will be one hour prior to mass at church Friday.
