Thanksgiving dinners serve up food, fellowship

Three free community Thanksgiving meals offered local people a generous mix of food and fellowship, with more than 1,600 people served.

  • Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center staff and volunteers joined with FedEx and First Christian staffers and community volunteers on Thursday to serve 594 meals, at the church and in deliveries to homes.
  • At Columbus Baptist Church’s “Feed the Flock” gathering Thursday, staff and volunteers served 747 meals, including both dine-in and delivery.
  • And at the America and Roby Anderson Community Center on Nov. 19, volunteers served 275 meals, including both dine-in and delivery, as they revived a pre-Thanksgiving tradition that had run for nearly 40 years before the former Eastside Community Center closed in 2015.
