A local man is being held without bond after Columbus police said they arrested him twice in less than 12 hours.
Kendric J. Martin, 22, Columbus, is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on charges of felony theft, felony battery by bodily waste, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Columbus Police Officer Jim Paris went to the 700 block of Union Street about a disturbance.
The homeowners said Martin had been kicking on the front door and was trespassing, Harris said and Martin was taken to jail on the trespassing charge.
At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, police were sent to Hughes Street and Indiana Avenue after a 911 call. Officers found Martin there and asked about a cell phone that had been reported stolen, and Martin, who officers said appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, gave the phone to officers, Harris said.
Martin was again arrested and began struggling with officers at the jail, Harris said. Martin was then taken to Columbus Regional Hospital to be checked where he kicked and spit on officers and hospital staff, Harris said.
