Robert L. Kelley Sr., 92, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:45 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Kelley was a retired truck driver from Teamsters Union 135 with over 35 years of service.

He was a former captain with the Columbus City Police Department and former patrolman with the Bartholomew County Sheriffs Department, a member of American Legion and a 50 year member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #20.

He was an Army veteran of WWII.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jacob Crouch officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mr. Kelley was born in Columbus, December 31, 1923, to Charles G. and Alta M. Sprague Kelley.

He married, Norma C. Caudill, September 18, 1971.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years; his children, Barbara (Jacob) Crouch of Winter Haven, Florida, Robert (Elaine) Kelley Jr., Jack (Charlene) Kelley, Jennifer (Donald) Lancaster and Jeffery (Marilyn) Kelley all of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary M. Carmer and Alta M. Kelley.
