Jenny’s Picks – December 15

There is one thing that will get me out and about in cold weather: Shopping. “A Not So Silent Night,” 4 to 8 p.m. today, features shopping at retail businesses on Washington and Franklin streets from Third to 11th streets, as well as food and drink establishments in the area. Activities include sales and discounts, strolling carolers and holiday music, free horse-drawn carriage rides, a window-decorating contest along Washington Street, food collection for Love Chapel, Ugly Sweater Fun Run sponsored by White River Running Company, an elf scavenger hunt for kids and a Santa house and crafts. Presented by Columbus Downtown Merchants Association.

I recently met the lovely Lottie the Great Dane. Lottie hangs out at the Bartholomew County Public Library, where she patiently listens to your children as they practice reading aloud to her. Visit her 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the library, 536 Fifth St. Information: 812-379-1266 and mybcpl.org.

You can catch this animated flick “Watership Down” about warring rabbit tribes at the Art House in the Red Room Film Series 6 p.m. Dec. 27, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. The 1978 English film includes several violent scenes and is not recommended for children. Information: 812-379-1266 and mybcpl.org.
