Local man arrested on charge of theft at bar “beer pong” event

A local man was arrested on two preliminary charges of theft after he was accused of stealing money during a “beer pong” event at a local bar.

Clinton J. Mings, 26, 1315 Central Ave., was arrested at about 1 a.m. Thursday after employees at the Cozy Bar, 3870 25th St., reported a theft, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A bar employee told Columbus Police Officer Marc Hutcheson that the bar’s security cameras showed Mings taking $57 at the “beer pong” event and putting it in his coat pocket, Harris said.

After watching additional security video, employees discovered another theft involving Mings in which he is accused of taking $10 that was stolen after a patron who put the money down to pay a bill, Harris said.

Mings was located by officers a short time later when a vehicle he was traveling in was stopped for a traffic violation, Harris said.
