Probation check results in arrests

Two local residents were arrested by Columbus police and the Bartholomew County Probation Department during a series of probation check-in visits.

At about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Columbus Police Department officer Maren Crabtree was with the probation department checking on a home in the 2200 block of Indiana Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

During the check, Crabtree talked with several people at the home, including Dawn M. Price, 46, 2131 Indiana Ave., who officers said gave them a false name, Harris said.

A short time later, Crabtree determined her correct identity and arrested her on charges of false informing, visiting a common nuisance, and a Bartholomew County warrant and a Johnson County warrant, Harris said.

While inside the home, officers found a mirror with a white residue later confirmed to be methamphetamine, Harris said.

Officers arrested Ethan E. Spray, 22, 2272 Indiana Ave., on charges of possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and a probation violation, Harris said.

Price and Spray are being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
