After a site at Mill Race Park was chosen as the location of a new senior center, Columbus officials began exploring where to find another $1.6 million to $2 million to build the adult community center.


Students at Columbus East and North high schools contributed more than 9,000 cans of food to be distributed to the needy during the holiday season.


Patricia Downs, widow of Specialist Fourth Class Jerry Wayne Downs, the first Bartholomew County native to be killed in Vietnam, accepted the Purple Heart presented posthumously to her husband.
