BOYS BASKETBALL

Panthers edge Owls

NORTH VERNON — Josh Pettit made a free throw to tie the game with 54 seconds remaining and another with 1 second left that proved to be the difference in Jennings County’s 55-54 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Seymour on Saturday night.

The Panthers (3-1, 2-0) trailed 32-23 early in the third quarter.

Tyler Vogel notched 14 points and seven rebounds, and Nick AmRhein had 14 points and four assists to lead Jennings. Chase Ketcham added 10 points.

Raiders top Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur led by one point at halftime Saturday, but South Ripley outscored the Cougars 40-25 in the second half to claim a 73-59 victory.

Matt Cornett led South Decatur (4-3) with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Nick Benge added 16 points, and Hunter Seegers had 10 points.

WRESTLING

Jennings takes third

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County finished third in Saturday’s 16-team Jeffersonville Invitational. New Albany won with 220 points to 208½ for Bloomington South and 192½ for Jennings.

Victor Antunez (113 pounds), Dalton Craig (126) and Brady Shepherd (285) all won their respective weight classes. Brooks Wathen (145) and Zane Beineke (160) each finished second.
