Dimple E. George, 87, of Columbus, died at 3 a.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

Mrs. George enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and attending church. She loved to play various games with her family and riding her bicycle daily, sometimes up to six miles!

Dimple was born in Russell County, Kentucky, May 22, 1929, to the late Willis and Carrie Bradshaw Brockman.

On July 27, 1946, she married Thomas George in Russell County, Kentucky.

Survivors include her children, Regina (Mark) Chapple, Joyce Howard, Debbie Gassaway, all of Columbus, Doris (Don) Washburn of Tennessee, Sherry (Dallas) Anderson of Westport and Tom (Karen) George of Taylorsville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; son, Christopher Scott George; brothers, James (Dolly) Brockman, Paul (Shirley) Brockman and Arthur Brockman; sisters, Maxine (Gordon) Loy and Rosa (Russell) Powell; grandchildren, Christopher David Herron and Travis Rice.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 1361 Tannehill Road, Taylorsville, Indiana 47280, with Pastor Lonny Goen officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
