Carl W. Settle, 61, of Columbus, died at 12:18 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Carl retired from Cummins Engine Company after 42 years of service. He enjoyed racing demolition derby cars and go karts. He would do anything for anybody, as that was just his good nature. Carl also liked to work on small engines in his spare time. Quality time with family and his two dogs, B.J. and Mattie, was important to him.

Mr. Settle was born in Columbus, Indiana, March 7, 1955, to the late Harold and Rebecca Moore Settle.

On November 20, 1976, Carl married Judith Hardwick at the New Hope Christian Church. Together, they enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; sons, Curt (Julie) Settle and Ryan (Kimber) Settle, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Tyler Settle, Kari Erwin and Cooper Settle; sister, Nancy (James) Bledsoe of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, with John Young officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
