Letter: Even for kids, best gifts are love, peace, goodwill

On Dec. 15 I went to the mall. Guess who I saw? Santa Claus. All the children were around him, some so small they had to be held, some a little taller, but they all wanted to sit on his lap.

Some wanted toys; others wanted their mother or father home for Christmas. Then I saw a woman carrying a small child. She bent down and kissed Santa. Her husband was overseas fighting so his small child could grow up in a land of peace, love and bravery for all mankind. Santa did what her husband could not do for his child.

All the children wanted something. They didn’t know it, but really they all wanted love, peace and goodwill to all mankind.
