Thieves stole more than 2 miles of copper wire that ran along the CSX Railroad tracks at Brownstown carrying electrical current to power traffic signals at railroad crossings in the area.

Moisture from the day’s rain damaged two utility pole insulators and left about 1,800 Bartholomew County REMC customers without power for almost eight hours.
