Olympians drop pair of close ones

FORT WAYNE — The Columbus East wrestlers lost two close matches Friday and finished 0-3 in the 3A division of the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Duals.

In its three-team pool, the 13th-ranked Olympians fell to No. 4 Perry Meridian 45-16 and lost to No. 19 Penn on the sixth tiebreaker after the teams were tied at 30-30. East then fell to Chesterton 37-35.

Cayden Rooks (120 pounds), Graham Rooks (126) and Dawson Combest (132) all went 3-0 for the Olympians. Corban Pollitt (145), Andy Davidson (152) and Austin Sheckles (220) all went 2-1.

Panthers take 2nd at tourney

BROOKVILLE — Jennings County fell to Bishop Chatard 59-45 in the championship game of the Franklin County Tournament.

Sidney Gerkin led the Panthers (5-9) with 18 points. Alexus Brown added eight.
