Betty L. Hurley, 77, of County Road 330W, died at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Hurley was born April 29, 1939, in Bartholomew County, to John W. and Martha N. Kuhlman Ferguson. She married Homer A. Hurley December 30, 1987. He preceded her in death August 29, 2009.
Mrs. Hurley was a supervisor at Bartholomew County Hospital, retiring after many years of service.
She loved her family and enjoyed painting. She was a special lady and was loved by all.
Survivors include her children, Linda Burton, Julie Shafer, Steven (Cora) Merriman and Roger (Sally) Merriman, all of Columbus; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter to be born in 2017; siblings, Ruby Ritter, Martha (Bob) Gabbard, John Ferguson, Marjorie (Warren) Hawkins, Kenneth (Ruth) Ferguson, Linda Swengel, Phillip Ferguson, Thomas Ferguson and James (Vicki) Ferguson.
Mrs. Hurley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Mary Black and Barbara Lequire; and brothers, Paul and Donald Ferguson.
In keeping with Mrs. Hurley’s wishes, cremation is planned. There will be no services.
Private inurnment will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
