Looking Back – January 1

1967 A cow kicked over a salamander heater on the Donald Scheidt farm east of Columbus and burned down a corn crib building. No animals were injured.

1992 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety cited Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department for promoting seat-belt usage during Operation Buckle Down.

2007

Columbus Board of Works signed a contract to borrow $1 million for one year to help pay for a new Fire Station 2 at Columbus Municipal Airport.
