Alice Marie Golden Avant Yandell, age 88, passed away on Dec. 22, 2016. She was born May 30, 1928, to Hattie Mae and Marvin Flanagan Golden in Leoma, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter, Lori Davis Branum, and a cousin and lifelong friend, Jewell Wilson.
Marie is survived by her husband of 39 years, James Yandell of North Vernon, Indiana; daughters, Margo Avant Mobley of Columbus and Lynn Avant of Mooresville; a son, Fred Avant (Kathy) of Tampa, Florida; stepdaughter, Vicki Maynard (Randy) of Pendleton; and stepson, James (Jan) Yandell Jr. of Painesville, Ohio.
She is also survived by her sister, Ann Meeks of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Jim Davis, Jamie Avant Meyer (Brandt), Andy Avant (Jessica) and Matt Stienke; stepgrandchildren, Aidan Yandell Goil and Adam Yandell; as well as 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marie lived for many years in Shelbyville, Indiana, where she raised her family. She and Jim had resided in North Vernon for the past 30 years.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th Street in Columbus. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Garland Brook Cemetery.
