Edna H. Pollitt, 101, of Columbus, died at 11:49 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2017, at Hickory Creek at Columbus.
Edna was born in Carbondale, Illinois, October 4, 1915, the daughter of Jasper and Florence Hawkins Harris. She married Robert W. Pollitt Oct. 27, 1935, in Makanda, Illinois, he preceded her in death April 3, 1987.
She worked as a clerk for Peggy’s Fashions, Dell Brothers and Fischvogts Jewelry. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle of the church, Mill Race Center and she enjoyed her home and family.
She is survived by her son, Richard L. (Mary Ellen) Pollitt of Hope,Indiana; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Odom of Murphysboro, Illinois; brother, Richard Harris of Long Beach, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Roberta Irwin; sons, Robert W. Pollitt Jr. and Roger D. Pollitt; sister, Naomi Sands; brothers, Henry H., Jack, Glenn and Robert Harris.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hathaway~Myers Chapel on Pearl Street, with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Calling is from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Entombment in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hathaway-myers.com.
