The yellow and green recycling bins across Second Street from Bartholomew County Jail, “Paper Retrievers,” earned the distinction of being the most heavily used independent-site Abitibi bins in Indiana.


The 1984 rescue of an abducted Columbus woman by former Bartholomew County Sheriff Jimmie D. McKinney was featured in an episode of “Top Cops” television program.


Close to 10,000 Christmas trees from local homes were burned during the annual Twelfth Night of Christmas ceremonies at Mill Race Park.
