Bartholomew County REMC updates progress on power outages

Bartholomew County REMC reported 250 customers without power starting at about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday night when a severe storm crossed the county.

Marty Lasure, Bartholomew County REMC vice president of communications and member service, said most of the outage was in the Hope area near County Roads 600N and 600E after a tree went through power lines. Power lines were damaged at County Road 500E and 800N which affected about 180 customers, and that outage was restored at 11:35 p.m., Lasure said.

Baker Hollow Road had power outage issues starting at 8:40 p.m. About 31 customers were without power through the night due to a broken pole and tree damage from the wind.  After restoring the line at 5:30 a.m. today, the electric system experienced “cold load pickup” problems as efforts to restore power were met with heavy demand.  Outage was completely restored at 7:08 a.m., Lasure said.

There were several other smaller outages affecting 1 or 2 members scattered throughout the county.

There was also a broken utility pole reported in a car accident at 6:17 a.m. this morning on Marr Road south of County Road 800N.
