Area schools drop a notch on grades

Bartholomew County’s two public school districts both earned a slightly lower mark than in the past on the state’s grading system for school corporations.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. saw their grades drop to a B in 2016 after each earned an A in 2014 and 2015, according to the A-F accountability grades released Wednesday by the Indiana Department of Education.

The latest grades come about a month after the A-F accountability grades for individual schools were released. District grades were delayed until they received state approval.

All schools in the Bartholomew Consolidated and Flat Rock-Hawcreek corporations earned either an A or a B in 2016.
