ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police in Rock Hill says a man found dead on railroad tracks was sleeping between the rails and was hit by a train.

Police spokesman Mark Bollinger said in a news release that the man was hit shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday and someone walking in the area found his body a short time later.

York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said Thursday afternoon she could not release the man’s name until relatives are notified.

The rail line is owned by Norfolk Southern.
