Zaharako’s Confectionery was purchased by a local nonprofit group, Columbus Capital Foundation, which hoped to have the historic downtown business restored and reopened in time for the Christmas season.

Shawn McGuire, an employee of Rose and Walker Dry Wall and Insulation Supply, jumped into the bone-chilling waters of Tipton Lake to rescue Rusty, a 10-month-old Pomeranian owned by Don and Edith Carr, after the dog fell through thin ice.

Ninth District U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton of Columbus was appointed to the House Post Office and Civil Service Committee in Washington.
