I might swing by the “Surf’s Up: Sand, Fun and Sun” family event sponsored by Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, 6:30 p.m. Friday at Donner Center, 739 22nd St. Beach music, sun and crafts such as making an ocean in a bottle and creating shell art. Upland Brewing Co. has partnered with Tri-State Artisans for a “Beer & Canvas” painting party to benefit the Columbus Area Arts Council. The fundraiser is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbus Pump House, 148 Lindsay St. Tickets are $30 and include two beers (for those 21 and older), snacks and all the supplies needed to paint your 12-inch x 16-inch canvas, along with gentle guidance from Tri-State Artisans instructors.
