Onalee Doris Merritt, 80, of Columbus, died Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Merritt was a homemaker. She was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church where she was very active in the church and the Inner City Outreach Center. She enjoyed working with people, was an amazing quilter and enjoyed crafting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very active and involved in their lives; each year she always made her grandchildren and great-grandchildren an ornament for Christmas.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Flat Rock Christian Church with Minister Brian Ebersold officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Enfield, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Inner City Outreach Center, 361 South Orleans Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38126.

Born in Luzerne, Michigan on July 17, 1936, she was the daughter of Lyle and Lois Lincoln Pattee.

On May 12, 1956, she married John P. Merritt. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2015.

Survivors include her children, John David (Tammy) Merritt of Charlotte, Michigan, Donna Lynn (Rick) Haynie of Elsie, Michigan and Sherri Jean (Gary) Simpson of Edinburgh; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Pattee, Sharon McIntyre, Cheryl Kruse, Gerald Pattee and Brenda Pederson.

Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Doris Marie Merritt; and a brother, Norman Pattee.

Arrangements were made by Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home.
