Mae Louise Michael, 80, of Columbus, died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at her home.

She was retired from Como Plastics as a quality inspector. Mae enjoyed playing Yahtzee and watching game shows. She also liked to go fishing.

Born on May 5, 1936, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, Mae was the daughter of Larcus M. and Clara Louise Posey Cobb. She married John R. Michael on December 12, 1953, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2010.

Survivors include sons, Dennis (Julie) Michael, John (Faye) Michael, Mark Michael, all of Columbus, Ronald (Graciela) Michael of Dupont, Indiana and Bill Michael of Seymour; daughters, Shirley (Roger) Leeson of Hope, Donna Michael of Columbus, Lori Michael of Florida and Christina Michael of North Vernon; grandchildren, Miranda Leeson of Columbus, Jessica Michael of Florida, Joshua Michael of Terre Haute, Justin Michael, Danielle Michael, Whitney Michael, all of Columbus, Derek Heslop, Lexi Koopman, both of North Vernon and Linda Bierlein of Columbus; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Larcus (Kay) Cobb of Columbus; and sisters, Fran Stuckey of Florida and Bobbie Sue Thompson of Columbus.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Jim Bo, Travis, Steven, Larry and Jerry; sister, Rebecca; and a stillborn infant sister.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
