Central Heights Church of God — Life groups for all ages begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 3151 Sharon Lane, Columbus. Praise and worship begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday; this includes children’s church for ages 5 through Grade 5. A nursery is available. Dance in Faith begins at 5 p.m. with Youth at 6 p.m. Sunday.Kingdom Builders, for Grades 1-5, is 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will share the morning message, “Good Works,” based on Scripture from Matthew 5:13-20 and communion at the 9 a.m. service Sunday at church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Columbus. Teresa Covert will present the children’s message and fellowship time will immediately follow the service. United Methodist Men’s group will meet at 7 a.m. Sunday at the church.

The Walking Group meets at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at FairOaks Mall and The Journey Bible study group meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Kimerling home. The Monday Bible study and Tuesday night Sit-n-Stitch are not meeting until a later date. Choir practice is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed at 7 p.m. by the Administrative Council meeting.

First United Methodist — The Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “A Stained Glass People,” at the 9 a.m. traditional and the 11 a.m. contemporary services Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. Scripture will be Matthew 5:13-20. Sunday school begins at 10:10 a.m. with classes for adults and children of all ages.

Stop by the church at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays for Zumba, taught in the Fellowship Hall by a certified Zumba instructor.

Parent’s Night Out: Drop your kids off at the church for games, snacks, crafts and a movie. Please eat dinner before arriving. Registration is required by Feb. 15.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Rupp will deliver the message, “Let Your Light Shine Before Others!”, at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh. Scripture will include Isaiah 58:1-12, Corinthians 2:1-16 and Matthew 5:13-20. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. with fellowship following at 9:40 a.m.

First Baptist — The Rev. Dan Cash will present the communion message, “Worshipping Well,” with Scripture from John 4:1-26 at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 3300 Fairlawn Drive, Columbus. Music worship will be led by the Chancel Choir. Child care is provided for infants. Older children will leave during the service for children’s church. Classes for all ages will begin at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The Youth will meet at 6:33 p.m. for Youth-6:33.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The Winter Learning Series for Cross Connections will be led by Bill Griffith, starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The series will meet for six weeks, with “Jesus in the Old Testament: It’s All About Me” as the topic.

The Men of Faith will meet at 6:15 a.m. Friday in the private dining room of Four Seasons Retirement Center, 1901 Taylor Road, for breakfast and study. The topic is “Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say.” A book will be used; see Dan Cash to obtain a copy.

Westside Community — Associate Pastor Robert Vester will lead the 10 a.m. service this Sunday at the church, located at the corner of State Road 46 West and Tipton Lakes Boulevard, Columbus. The children’s program for birth through sixth grade meets during the service.

The pastors are beginning a new nine-week sermon series on “Managing Life.” They will discuss seven areas of life where God has asked his people to be good stewards.

The Ruby Tuesday morning Bible study class meets at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the church. They have begun a new study titled “The Christian and the Holy Spirit” by Bill Bright. All ladies are invited to attend.

A new group, titled Walking in Faith, is meeting from 11:15 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at the church. Members will be walking together for fitness and fellowship. The group will be walking inside the building to begin with, but hopes to move outside as weather permits.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus — The Rev. Mary Moore will deliver the message, “Theologian Howard Thurman’s Thoughts Re. the Basis for Our Action in the World,” at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 7850 W. Goeller Blvd., Columbus.

First Presbyterian — This Sunday is a continuation of the four-part series of the Sermon on the Mount. Scripture will include Matthew 5:13-20. Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 512 Seventh St. Infant and toddler care is available 9:15 a.m. to noon. Sunday school for children from preschool-age to third grade will begin at 10 a.m. Fourth grade through high school will have Sunday school at 11 a.m. The Adult Fellowship and Education hour will be held at 11 a.m.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays. Those in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals offered at 5 p.m. Friday through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

St. Peter’s Lutheran — The church is offering a class, “Torah 1.0,” for anyone who wants to learn more about the Jewish roots of Christianity. Come and study the five books of Moses peppered with insights from ancient rabbis at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the church, 719 Fifth St., Columbus. The study will also contain connections of the Torah to the New Testament and the writings of early Christians.

Events

First Lutheran — The Fellowship Ministry Team of the church, 3600 25th St., is hosting another Fellowship Friday social evening at 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at The Garage Pub and Grill. Guests are welcome, but please call the church before Feb. 16 if you intend to join in. Information: 812-372-1256.Petersville United Methodist — The Valentine’s Day Dinner, catered by Teresa Covert, will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Columbus. Cost: $15 single, $25 couple.

Fat Tuesday Dinner will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28. Menu: pancakes, sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Funds from this meal will go to support an upcoming mission trip to Uganda by two members of the church to teach the Bible to pastors and children.
