Chad Andrew Richey, 35, of High Springs, Florida, formerly of Brown County and Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home.
Chad was born Aug. 14, 1981, in Kankakee, Illinois.
He was a 1999 graduate of Brown County High School. After graduation, Chad enlisted with the United States Navy where he was stationed in Bremerton, Washington, and he served on the USS Carl Vinson during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Chad enjoyed going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to snowboard and ski, and he enjoyed snorkeling and scuba diving.
Survivors include his mother, Catherine Whitsell Richey of Columbus; his father, Charles Richey of Nashville; his spouse; daughters, Alana and Kyla of High Springs, Florida; a sister, Gwen (Josh) Heitman of Columbus; a niece, Amelia Bailey of Columbus; and aunts, Vicki Richey of Illinois and Kim Whitsell of Florida.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Full military rites will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home.
