Dorothy J. McMillan, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. McMillan was a school crossing guard for 45 years for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation and was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at East Columbus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday and 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Bartholomew County on April 8, 1931. She was the daughter of Marion and Carrie Olmsted Lane.
She married Bill McMillan on Oct. 27, 1956. He preceded her in death July 21, 2011.
Survivors include her daughters, Paula (Barry) Turnbow and Diane (Ronnie) Cox, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Kimberly McMillan, Dustin (Breanna) McMillan, Hayley (David) Nichols, Mitchell (Finley) Turnbow, Carly (Casey) Wright and Katie Cox; great-grandchildren, Devon McMillan, Jake Hunt, Alysa McMillan, Mya McMillan, Nathan McMillan, Gabriel McMillan, Turner Nichols, Scottie Nichols, Kennedy Turnbow and Nora Wright; brothers, Albert (Dorothy Mae) Lane of Hope and Harold (Ravenna) Lane of Indianapolis; a sister, Marjorie (John) Tulley of Columbus; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Lane of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike McMillan; brothers, George Gates and Chester, Charlie and Bobby Lane; and her sister, Betty Lane.
