MALE

Corban Pollitt, Columbus East junior wrestler

Pollitt won his first-round match by technical fall, then won matches by pin and by decision to capture the 145-pound class in the Jeffersonville Regional and help lead the Olympians to their first regional title.

His performance last week: “I just went out there and did what I was supposed to do. I wrestled my positions and just came out and won.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Chicken”

Favorite book: “Gym Candy”

Favorite class: “Weights”

Role model: “My dad (Ian Pollitt)”

Best advice: “Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy.”

Athletics goal: “To place this year and next year at state”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Hawaii because I’ve never been there. I like the beach.”

FEMALE

Jenna Borger, Columbus North junior basketball player

Borger scored eight points in Saturday’s 43-41 sectional final win against Columbus East. She also had five points in a 56-32 semifinal win against East Central and nine points and seven rebounds in an 87-25 first-round win against Shelbyille.

Her performance last week: “I feel like my teammates helped me have a lot of confidence going into the games, and my coaches helped me have a lot of confidence. So I just tried my best to help my team out.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just get a lot of shots up before the game.”

Favorite drink: “Diet Coke”

Favorite food: “Fettucine alfredo”

Favorite books: “The Divergent Series”

Favorite class: “My dental class”

Role model: “My parents (Mike and Carmen Borger)”

Best advice: “My coach (Pat McKee) always tells me to play uninhibited.”

If you could travel anywhere: “The Dominican Republic, because it’s warm and pretty.”
