Scipio man arrested on drug-related charges

Columbus police arrested a Scipio man on several drug-related charges after his vehicle was stopped for not having working taillights.

About 1:10 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Jennifer Van Vactor stopped a car being driven by Charlie R. Noblitt, 53, 8260 N. Brooks Lane, Scipio, at U.S. 31 and County Road 50N, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

While speaking with Noblitt, Van Vactor noticed a glass pipe with white residue stuck between the vehicle’s seats, Harris said.

When searching the car, officers found marijuana, two digital scales and three bags containing methamphetamine inside the vehicle, Harris said.

Noblitt was arrested on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.

He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $28,500 bond.
