Jerry S. Whitehead, 67, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, went to be with God on February 6, 2017, in Florida.

Jerry was born March 20, 1949, in Thompkinsville, Kentucky, the son of Homer and Minnie McCue Whitehead.

Jerry was a member of Morningside Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. He was employed at Cummins Engine Company as a machinist, where he was known as “Clutch”, retiring after 40 years of service. Jerry was a loving husband, father, brother and a friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed.

A gathering of friends celebrating Jerry’s life will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 1361 Tannehill Road, Taylorsville, Indiana.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500 Chicago, Illinois 60604.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Whitehead; sons, Joseph (Lora) Whitehead and Pete Whitehead, both of Columbus; daughters, Dawn (Chris) Gardner of Seattle, Washington, Sarah Whitehead-Herbert of Franklin, Melissa (Brian) Owens Neuman of Greenwood and Bridgett (Terry) Sharp of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; a brother, Jack Whitehead of Hope; sisters, Judy (Garry) Holden of Columbus, Linda (Wayne) Thompson of Taylorsville and Juanita (Larry) Rice and Jessica (Tim) Mikesell, both of Columbus; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerry Keith Whitehead.
