North girls headed to Richmond

The Columbus North girls basketball team will play its semistate game in Richmond for the third consecutive year.

The Bull Dogs (21-7) will face Class 4A No. 4 Pike (23-3) at around 3 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to the state finals.

Prior to the North-Pike game, Eastern (Pekin) and Covenant Christian will play in the Class 2A semistate at 1 p.m. at Richmond.

The Bull Dogs advanced to semistate by upsetting Evansville Central and Class 4A No. 9 Bedford North Lawrence in Saturday’s Bedford Regional.

Crusaders knock off Cardinals

Columbus Christian broke open a close game after three quarters Saturday night to pull away for a 67-52 win against Washington Catholic.

Logan Roth led the Crusaders (23-5) with 20 points. Kyle Marsh added 15, while Blake Barker had 13.
