Helen J. Swinehart, 89, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Edinburgh, died February 13, 2017, at Canterbury Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. She was the daughter of John W. and Ina M. (Lutes) Hashman. She was born March 7, 1927, in Jackson County, Indiana. She married J. Leslie “Midge” Swinehart on June 30, 1946. He preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1984.
She is survived by a son, Stephen D. (Stephanie) Swinehart of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Paul Hashman and Wayne Hashman.
She was a member of the Edinburgh United Methodist Church and the Edinburgh American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan of the Colts, Pacers, Chicago Cubs, I.U. and NASCAR.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Sean Johnson Saturday, February 18, at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
