Columbus woman faces Johnson County drug charges

A Columbus woman sold methamphetamine at least twice in Johnson County over a period of nearly a year, and police arrested her on a warrant this week, according to court documents.

Samantha L. Banks, 42, of 2806 22nd St., Columbus, has been charged with two counts of dealing methamphetamine after an investigation by Franklin police detectives.

Banks first sold more than 1 gram of methamphetamine at a location in Franklin in September 2015, and police were able to collect evidence of the drug deal. A second drug deal, where Banks sold 1.3 grams, happened in September 2016 behind an Edinburgh business, court documents said. Franklin detectives also collected evidence of that drug deal, the documents said.

Banks was held at the Johnson County jail on $12,000 bond. Sheriff’s deputies arrested her as she completed a sentence at the Bartholomew County Jail. She was sentenced in November to nine months of jail on two methamphetamine charges in Bartholomew County.
