BOYS SWIMMING

North earns call-backs

Columbus North boys swimmers landed call-backs to the state finals in two events, the IHSAA announced Sunday.

Sam Russell in the 200-yard individual medley, and the Bull Frogs’ 400 freestyle relay team were among the competitors rounding out the field in their respective events. They will join Angel Torres Martinez in the 50 freestyle and North’s 200 freestyle relay team, who won sectional titles on Saturday.

Kaemon Jiles, who won the sectional in diving, will compete in Tuesday’s Bloomington North Diving Regional. The state swimming prelims are at 6 p.m. Friday at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium, with the diving prelims and semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the swimming and diving finals at 1 p.m.

Eagles rout Wolverines

SWITZ CITY — Brown County, which snapped a nine-game losing streak on Friday, won its second game in as many days Saturday, a 76-36 victory at White River Valley.

Jordan Samples led the Eagles (5-16) with 17 points. Isaiah Keefauver added 15, and Josh Cochran had 12.

Jennings County falls

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington South won the battle of the Panthers Saturday night, knocking off Jennings County 61-46.

Tyler Vogel led Jennings (13-9) with 20 points, while Nick AmRhein added 12. Bret Sawyer had seven points and eight rebounds.
