Local man arrested on charge of criminal recklessness

A Columbus man is in jail on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm after police responded to a call of shots fired call.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Whipker responded to a report of shots fired in the 8400 block of Colony Parke subdivision at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

After making contact with the homeowner, identified as Adam Brown, 34, 8477 Sheffield Court, Whipker found that Brown appeared to be intoxicated. When asked about shots fired from his residence, Brown took Whipker to his backyard where he had been shooting a .22-caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun at an archery target, sheriff’s department spokeswoman Judy Jackson said.
