Donald “Don” E. Weddle Sr., 82, of Taylorsville, passed from this life at 11:14 a.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Weddle retired after 41 years from the Golden Foundry where he was a supervisor. He served in the United States Navy as a parachute packer, served four years active duty and four years in the reserve.

He was a member of Amity Baptist Church and Just Friends. He loved wood working, hunting, fishing, camping, the outdoors, doing carpentry work and upholstery.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Charles Kennedy and Pastor Doug Brown officiating. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Just Friends, or Amity Baptist Church.

Mr. Weddle was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Brownstown, Indiana, to Charles Henry and Virginia Clouse Weddle. He married Alice Everroad on Aug. 20, 1955, at the First Nazarene Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years; children, Donald E. (Della) Weddle Jr., James A. (Lorenda) Weddle, Timothy S. Weddle and Alison M. (Gregory) Simo, all of Columbus; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Michael (Margaret) Weddle of Coatsville; and one sister, Sue Wade of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a grandson, Cole Ryan Weddle.
