Set your alarm for this year’s State of the City address

Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop will give his State of the City address at 7:15 a.m. March 9 at Donner Center, 739 22nd St.

Breakfast will be provided by the Columbus Fire Department and is free. Donations will be accepted for the Columbus Fireman’s Cheer Fund.

Lienhoop will provide updates about progress on several city projects beginning at 8 a.m., as well as new projects for this year. Tours of Donner Center will be offered after the mayor’s speech.

The city decided to take a new approach this year after having formal evening events in the past few years, said Mary Ferdon, executive director of administration and community development.

Lienhoop plans to highlight some of the plans for improvements to Donner Center as part of the event and city officials thought it would be fun to have firefighters preparing breakfast for the estimated 250 people expected to attend the event, she said.

The new time may make it possible for more people to attend, she said.
