Firefighters called to engine test cell fire near airport

Columbus firefighters were sent to a fire in an engine test cell at a Cummins facility at 4760 Ray Boll Blvd. this morning.

They were called at about 9 a.m. today to the facility, which is near the Columbus Municipal Airport, about a small fire within an engine, that was inside a test cell in the facility, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters told dispatchers they had the fire out but it continued to reignite and were working to disconnect various coolant lines to the engine in order to keep the fire extinguished, Wilson said.

No injuries were reported.
